Firefox vs Chrome

  浏览器市场的格局已经不同往日,IE虽然仍把持头把交椅,不过Firefox及众多浏览器也都正在奋起直追,Google于去年发布的 Chrome份额虽不多但是名声却不小,那么可以称得上是IE最大对手的Firefox对Google开发Chrome又有什么看法呢?

  Firefox开发主管Mike Beltzner近日在接受采访时谈到了Google和Chrome,他说:“Google很有吸引力,当我第一次在电影中听到Google作为动词使用 时,我想到‘哇,这个世界真是有点恶作剧,不过也很酷’。越来越多的人接触到Google,并且了解它是做什么的,但是很少有人能有确切了解 Firefox,换句话说,很高兴有更多的人去了解浏览器以及我们的工作。我们关注他们的开发列表,他们关注我们的,有其他人来一起考虑终端用户的所需是 一件好事。”

  Beltzner表示,Chrome其实是有一定的优势,因为当你从头做一件事的时候可以轻易地把一切抛开,而不用担心后果。此外,“我们都试 图去利用不同的浏览器,不过Chrome所提出的论题、工具和快速发布的技术版本更甚于其它任何浏览器,这对于我们检验自己的想法很有帮助,哪些可以或是 哪些不可以出现在浏览器中。”

  当一种新的浏览器出现时,很多人都会关注它的速度和各种基准测试结果,Chrome的速度和各类基准测试结果无疑是引人注目的,无论是已经发布 的正式版还是正在开发的测试版,Chrome的速度都已经超越其它浏览器成为冠军,Firefox开发人员又是如何看待速度问题的呢?

  Mike Beltzner回答道:“速度是很重要的,这不只是从浏览器加载什么需要多长时间的角度来说,从应用程序开发的角度来说也是如此。当今 JavaScript引擎的速度和以前相比已经不可同日而语。如果再用从前的JavaScript编译器来运行日历或是Email那我可受不了……现在的 引擎已经比从前的Java引擎快10倍还要多,所以探讨是这个浏览器还是那个快100毫秒的话题归根结底只是引擎的问题,至于能否达到其功用极限等问题都 并不重要。”
